A Note from the Principal
Dear Thorson Families,
This week is School Psychologist Week. I’d like to take a moment to recognize Mr. McFarlane, Thorson’s school psychologist. He is an incredible advocate for our students helping them navigate challenges to get into school, offering additional support when needed, or simply being a compassionate person to talk to. Mr. McFarlane is always there for our students. He brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his role and will listen and give support to our staff. Thank you, Mr. McFarlane, for everything you do—we truly appreciate all that you contribute to our school community.
The Veterans Day parade was truly amazing to witness. Our students did an outstanding job of bringing energy and enthusiasm, cheering on the Veterans as they passed by. It was a wonderful demonstration of this month's character trait: Citizenship. I hope Veterans know how much they mean to us as we honor the sacrifices they’ve made throughout their lives. Thank you to all the veterans for your service. Thorson appreciates you! A special thank you to Mrs. Claypool for all of her work organizing this.
The Thorson choir will be singing at the Admirals game on Saturday. Thank you to the music teachers in all three elementary schools for organizing this experience for students. Tickets are still available if you want a fun family out for this weekend. Go Admirals!
Please remember not to drop your students off before 8:35 am. We have had students who are unsupervised playing in the woodchips causing a potential unsafe situation. Thank you for your cooperation to make sure all students at Thorson are safe.
Just a reminder to sign up for parent teacher conferences by Tuesday, November 18th. The PTO Book Fair will be open during conferences as well.
Thorson will be participating in the KAPCO Kids 2 Kids Toy Drive. The Thorson Student Council will be collecting toys starting on November 18th. See more information under the “New and Exciting” section of the Weekly Notes. Our amazing PTO also has a lot of things going on, so don’t forget to check that section out as well.
Have a great weekend.
