A Note from the Principal
Dear Thorson Families,
We started our official countdown to summer this week, and this will be our last Thursday folder of the year. We have lots of fun activities happening in these last four days of the school year. Tomorrow is the district’s annual CHS graduate walk through. The graduating class of 2024 will walk through each elementary school, going back to where they began their career.
Next week we will have two all-school assemblies and our all-school PBIS field trips. We will close out the year with our annual Field Day on Wednesday, June 5, which is our last day of school. Also, please be sure to watch for communication from your child’s teacher regarding details for all of these events.
We wish the 5th graders farewell and know that they are well prepared for their journey in middle school. We look forward to hearing about the great things that they do in the years to come. We will honor our 5th grade students at an all-school assembly at the end of the day on June 5. We also bid farewell to any families who are seeing their last child move on from Thorson this year and any families who are leaving Thorson. Thank you for all you have done to support what we do at Thorson in your time here. We wish you all the best.
Fourth quarter progress reports will be posted to Skyward Family Access on Thursday, June 13. You will receive an email when they are available to view.
The summer office hours for Thorson are 7:00-3:00 Monday-Thursday. The office is closed on Fridays. Please call ahead if you are coming in for something as there are times when office staff is away from the office at meetings or in other parts of the building. We will send updates in the summer with registration information and back to school events.
Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to THANK YOU for your support throughout this school year. It has been a pleasure to partner with all of you in your child’s education. I would also like to thank our Thorson PTO for all of the support they provide to our entire school community. We are so lucky to have such a generous and supportive community.
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Angela Little, Principal

New and Exciting
Thorson Field Day
We are looking for volunteers interested in helping supervise a station at Field Day on Wednesday, June 5th. Help us send our students off with a fun last day of school! If you are interested, please use this link to sign up. Please note, we are also collecting bubbles and chalk again this year if you can donate. We appreciate all our families and their help in making these fun days possible at Thorson! Any questions about volunteering for field day may be directed to Katie Kowalkowski at kkowalkowski@cedarburg.k12.wi.us
Green Squad
Thorson Green Squad would like to thank all those families who contributed to our school wide Penny Wars. Thanks to our wonderful parent volunteers and the Thorson PTO. A huge thank you to David J Frank Landscaping for the installation. The money was used to purchase our new story stroll holders, installation of the holders, and new books to put in them. The students were able to take a story stroll with their buddy class this week for our Thorson countdown. We look forward to all the story strolls we will read!
Year End Medication Pick Up
All student medication stored in the Thorson health room must be picked up by the end of the day on Friday, June 9th. All medication left in the health room after that time will be disposed of as we cannot store any medication over the summer.
Planter Box Help Needed
The Thorson PTO granted each grade level a planter box! We are looking for volunteers to each take a week and help tend to our boxes throughout the summer. We have 7 total planter boxes so feel free to bring a friend or two. We would like each volunteer to take a week where they pull weeks, water plants, and harvest any crops. You are welcome to keep what you pick, give it away, or donate it. Sign up here!
Thorson PTO Oak Leaf Award Nominations
The purpose of the Thorson PTO Oak Leaf award is to recognize a Thorson school community volunteer who has gone “above and beyond the call of duty” to make Thorson a better place for our children, students, and school community.
Thank you to all of you who have found ways to help and to be involved in supporting our school community this year. We thank ALL OF YOU who have helped make this year and every year a little brighter with your support!

Get your school supplies now for next year!
The PTO has once again arranged a convenient school supplies kit service for the upcoming school year! The Write Stuff, a woman-owned company located in Elburn, IL, has been providing excellent service for the past four years. This service is a great way for busy parents to save time and effort! This service allows you to purchase a kit that includes all the items on your child's school supplies list for 2023-24. It is completely optional! The benefit is that it helps you avoid the rush in August trying to find that [insert specific color] notebook or other item that you would not expect to be hard to find (spoken from experience). The bonus is that you can edit your kit to remove anything you already have (e.g., markers or pencils leftover from this year or headphones you don't need more). This service does not benefit the PTO in any way (e.g., it is not a fundraiser). The Write Stuff store for Thorson Elementary School is now open at www.write-stuff.com/storefront/school/thorson. If you order by June 15th, you will enjoy free delivery to the school in August. The store will be open until July 15th, with standard delivery fees applied after 6/15. You can find the 2024-25 school supplies lists here. Please note that there are a few items on the list that The Write Stuff does not carry, such as art smocks, shoes, and backpacks. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact Nicole Stein at (414) 640-1985 or nicole@steinmediadesign.com!
The next PTO meeting is on 06/03 at 3:00 p.m. Here is the agenda for the meeting.
